  1. I woke up this morning expecting to be in a guesthouse somewhere on the Annapurna Circuit. And then found myself feeling disappointed to realise that I was actually at home in NZ. It made me realise just how much I had enjoyed my trek with my guide Chandi Rai.

Its a good time to thank Prem Rai at Prems Nepal Trek in Pokhara for organising my itinerary. It was so easy . We made one or two changes and very quickly locked in some dates and a plan for the 22 day trek.
Prem allocated one of his best team members to guide me, by name Chandi Rai . For the next 22 days of the trek Chandi Rai was my guide and companion while we trekked up hill and down hill though the Himalayan mountains on the Annapurna Circuit. The highlight was crossing Thorong La the highest trekking pass in the world at 5416m or 17 769ft.
Prem had skillfully arranged my itinerary to take me up from the Besisahar start point through different altitude levels to acclimatise enough to prepare for the pass crossing on day 14 of the trek. With Chandi Rai leading the way we made the crossing and the long descent quite comfortably. It was a huge effort and a long day but Chandi patiently lead the way so that it never felt too difficult.
Thanks to Chandi Rai 22 days of trekking felt like 2 days and I could quite easily go back and do it again. Chandi was very good as a guide . His knowledge of the circuit and his contacts at the lodges is great. His English is good and it was such a pleasure being able to ask about local customs, flora and fauna and get such knowledgeable answers. I can highly recommend his services. If anyone is thinking of doing any of the treks in Nepal , please feel free to contact me for a reference. Both Prem and Chandi were a total pleasure and I could not have done it without their expert guidance and planning. Thanks Prem Rai and Chandi Rai. Namaste and happy trekking.
